Web-design
Jul. 5th, 2024 07:28 pmToday I started working on my Neocities website, and I think I spent, like... at least 5 - 6 hours in one go without getting up? And I feel like I have just been running in circles, trying to come up with something good, but it just ended up being messy. I know I am a beginner, so obviously it is not going to be the best, but the website is... a lot less than bare-bones, I think. Still, I suppose it is better than doing nothing at all.
I think the one thing that kind of handicaps my progress is my bad back. Even at the age of 19, if I stay sitting up for too long, it will bring me a great deal of pain, so I have to limit what I do if I do not want to be in a world of pain all of a sudden. It is not a major setback, but it does affect my overall work output by quite a bit. I think if I had a normal back, I would be able to work on this website for many hours in a row without needing to take any breaks. Though, I suppose I have to make do with what I have, eh?
I hope that I can make an amazing site with lots to look at, for all of my brain-dead ideas and ramblings that one can get lost in reading for a long while.
Sometimes when I think about games I played in my childhood, there is one that I always remanence about: Eternal League of Nefia, or Elona. The game is a decade and a half old now, but I remember spending a lot of time on the computer just playing it. I have a lot of fond memories of the game, being a little Japanese freeware roguelike that I could sink hours of my time into (I was home-schooled, so I was always home anyway), and it was a genre I was in love with growing up. I even recently downloaded it again, just so I can relive those precious faded memories of something my little child brain cherished. (I think it is discontinued development now.)
My only problem is this: I do not have any friends who have played or heard about it outside of what I told them. In fact, outside of the subreddit dedicated to it, it is difficult for me to find anyone who has played or still plays it, or has even heard of it. It is an older game from the mid to late 2000s, but I would love to be able to remanence about a rare gem of a computer game with a like-minded individual.
That aside, however, replaying it, I feel like I have entered a relic of the past, where computer games and classic roguelikes and RPGs were everywhere. I wonder if it is just me, but there is something about older computer games that gives me a somewhat... warm feeling? Not exactly, but I feel euphoric, in a way. I do not know if that is the correct word, but that is what comes to mind, at least.
I am aware that add-ons, like Elona+, and that one mobile Elona game exists. I have played the latter when I found it randomly on my app store, and it is... okay, I guess? I could go without being badgered for my money, but I suppose that is just how the mobile game market will be for any game. However, the OG build will always be my favourite, though that may just be a biased opinion fueled by nostalgia.
I am looking forward to the next game, Elin, when it is released for early access!
Introduction to PackW0RMS
Jul. 3rd, 2024 03:50 pmHello. I am PackW0RMS, but I typically go by Samjo. I am not a particularly interesting person, but allow me to tell you some things about myself.
I am a 19 year old nonbinary/bigender person who goes by they/he pronouns, as well as xenopronouns such as library/ruina. I spend most of my time playing video games or surfing the internet, but I have recently decided to learn web-design and writing in html, and am currently working on a Neocities site. The expectancy of completion would most likely be at least 1 year or more. I also do art, but I think it is a bit mediocre at best. I also really like bugs, marine life, birds, and classic literature.
I have never been great at interacting with fellow humans, accompanied by the fact that I have high-level autism, so my speaking and the way I communicate may seem off, but please try to bear with me. I tend to yap when I get chatty, too. I also do not mind being friends, but if you are under the age of 18, I ask that you please do not interact with my page. None of my spaces will ever be age-appropriate.
I think that covers everything I need to say. Thank you for reading!
